For those in the world of professional product and portrait photography there is no such thing as too many pixels.
The Hasselblad H5D-60 Medium Format DSLR Camera has 60 Megapixel resolution, creating uncompressed TIFF files that are 180MB per shot. It retails for just under $40,000.
The Leaf Aptus-II 12R Large Format Camera has 80 Megapixel resolution and takes a full 1.5 seconds to capture a single frame due to the sheer amount of data being transferred from the sensor. Each uncompressed TIFF from this camera takes up 480MB. This is also the first camera I have seen where the sensor can be rotated 90° internally.
